The Facebook security director, Alex Stamos, said in a statement the existence of a new warning notification alert users of this social network if your account is compromised or under some form of government oversight. In short, if you are under the gaze of a security agency like the NSA, Facebook like it will be noted.
“Although we have always taken steps to protect the accounts that we believe have been committed, we have decided to show this additional warning if we have a strong suspicion that an attack could be sponsored by a government. We do this because these types of attacks tend to be more advanced and dangerous than others, and we encourage those affected to take measures to ensure all your online accounts actions. “
Stamos says that this notification does not appear when Facebook is violated in some way throughout their platform but specifically detects if an attacker code that wants to use a user account:
“To protect the integrity of our methods and processes, often we will not be able to explain how to attach certain attacks on alleged attackers. That said, we intend to use this warning only in situations where the evidence strongly supports our conclusion. We hope these warnings will help people in need of protection, and continue to improve our ability to prevent and detect all attacks against people in Facebook.”
